The Congressional Spotlight: Policy Advocacy Training and Legislative Simulation Workshop is a free interactive program facilitated by the John C. Stennis Institute of Government and Community Development. During the program, participants will learn more about the policy-making process as it relates to geography and education as well as participate in a fully engaging and interacting legislative simulation. With the simulation, participants will get a peek into the complexities of being a congressional staffer as they work with others to make decisions. Scenarios are presented each round based upon previous choices. Anything can happen! The ultimate goal of the simulation is to win re-election for your particular congressperson. Every action and decision you make plays into this. It all comes down to the final round: will you be re-elected?
This program will be offered twice. It will be held at the MGA office, 1110 S. College Ave, on Friday, May 2 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (refreshments provided) and on Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm (lunch provided). Registration is required, as space is limited.
