The department of Geosciences at UMKC is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for Urban and Cultural Geography. The principal requirement for appointment as Adjunt Instructor is an MS or PhD degree in geography with prior experience teaching human geography courses either as GTA or instructor. These are both 3-hour courses and the standard adjunt instructor salary for a 3-hour course is $2,700 per semester but we are able to pay up to $3,000 to attract the right person. For the upcoming fall semester, Cultural Geography is scheduled MWF 11:00-11:50 and Urban Geography is MWF 1:00-1:50. We expect the enrollment for each of these courses to be between 15 and 20 students.

GEOG 309 Urban Geography
Historical development, morphology and functions of urban places, including intercity relationships and the relationship between cities and their hinterlands; emphasis on American cities.
GEOG 332 Cultural Geography
A study of the distribution and interpretation of cultural patterns throughout the world. Examined are material and non-material elements of culture such as settlement, land use, technology and belief systems. The geographic origins and diffusion of culture traits are emphasized.
