The Ring of Darhad Research Expedition is a 400-mile ski traverse in search of the first DNA evidence of wolverines in Mongolia. The Darhad Valley and surrounding mountains in northern Mongolia represent a culturally and biologically diverse region. On March 27, the team will embark on a survey for wildlife, with a focus on the wolverine, an indicator species for climate change. A winter wildlife survey has never been conducted in this area and a mega-transect through the region will offer the opportunity to document species that are elusive and hard to detect during the summer. Through National Geographic Education and Montana State University, the expedition will engage thousands of students who will follow the progress throughout the journey. Join the expedition now!
