Last week, MGA leaders traveled to a fundraising-focused Alliance Coordinators meeting at National Geographic headquarters in Washington, D.C.! Coordinator Shannon White (pictured above, right) was joined by Jennifer Blair (left) and Chris Willow (center) for two days of workshops and presentations. They also visited the offices each U.S. Representative and Senator from Missouri to advocate for geography education in our state and nation!
Jennifer says: “I really enjoyed our trip to National Geographic! This was my first trip to our nation’s capital and I was honored to be invited to attend. The two-day fund raising intensive was full of great information about identifying prospects, creating a case for support, and presenting opportunities to potential funders.
“We got to meet Juan Valdes, “The Geographer” at National Geographic, and hear about what sparked his interest in maps. Overall it was great to meet interesting people and learn about geographic happenings across the nation. I would like to thank Shannon for being a great guide while we were in D.C. and I’m excited about the opportunities on the horizon for the Missouri Geographic Alliance!”
